During a recent two week trip to Orlando, I stayed at 5 different timeshare resorts to get a feel for which ones are worth it and which ones aren’t.
Cypress Pointe was my 2nd stay and it is just across the street from Grande Villas.
Both are Hilton Vacation Club resorts and they even share amenities and transportation for guests since they are so close to each other.

Cypress Pointe Review
Cypress Pointe is located just outside of the Disney Springs area, so it is so close for all things Disney.
One major thing to note about this resort is that the buildings do not have any elevators.
So if you bring a lot of luggage, you’ll have to carry it up the stairs or get someone from bell services to help you.
During my stay, I had a full sized suitcase and a couple smaller bags, but because of my nerve damage in my dominant arm, I had to have them help me get my bags up to my room.
I was able to check in early though, moving straight over from checking out at the Grande Villas at 10 am and checking in at Cypress Pointe.
Also, contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be a timeshare owner to stay at most timeshare properties.
Most of them can be booked directly or through your preferred 3rd party platform.

Room Types
Cypress Pointe is unique in that they only offer studios, 2 bedrooms, and 3 bedrooms.
Most timeshares have a 1 bedroom option as their lowest tiered option, but instead, here is just the studio.
Having a studio option does make it more affordable than a 1 bedroom would be, but it also makes it more just like a regular hotel room instead of an apartment style room.
Studio
The Studio can best be described as a honeymoon suite.
They all have King beds, there is not an option for a Queen or 2 Queens.
The bath tub is smack dab in the middle of the room and the shower is in the corner.
Only the toilet is behind another door.
Funny story, I actually booked my brother and sister here one time when they were going to Disney and it was the cheapest and closest timeshare option.
Timeshares notoriously are secretive about their room types, what they look like, what’s included, etc.
Nothing on the website anywhere showed that it would be any different than your typical hotel room.
Of course they get there and realize the bath tub and shower are just out in the open and there’s no sofa bed either.
Since I’m the timeshare owner, I was the only one allowed to coordinate with the front desk to fix the situation.
I explained to them how nothing on the website said the room would be like this, so they were able to move them into the next room type, a 2 bedroom, for no extra charge.
So when I was planning my trip and was booking a stay here for myself I saw that they have warnings now on EVERY SINGLE page before you confirm your reservation!
This is your fair warning to only book the studio here if you’re fine sharing a bed with whoever you’re staying with and having the shower out in the open.
I stayed by myself, so I had no issue with the set up.
Room Pricing
The studio on average is about $95 per night as the base cost, but with taxes there is another $12 per night, and with the resort fees it’s another $23 per night.
So each night would be about $130 per night once all the costs are factored in.
On weekends it would be closer to about $146 per night.
Parking is included, but you just need to make sure you get a parking pass from the front desk.
This room is definitely on the cheaper side compared to most hotels around the Disney area.
It’s definitely cheaper than any hotel on Disney property!
With the studio though, you’re not getting the most important timeshare amenity, the kitchen.
This room just has a microwave and mini fridge which most hotel rooms have anyway.
If you choose to upgrade to the 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom, this is where you might get more bang for your buck.
Two Bedroom
The average base rate for the two bedroom is $172 per night.
With taxes and the resort fee, the total price per night averages about $216.
This is still cheaper than a lot of hotels around the Disney area.
It’s definitely cheaper than getting 2 separate hotel rooms!
Two bedrooms have 1 King room and 1 Queen room, with a full kitchen.
So you really get your money’s worth on this stay.
Three Bedrooms
Three bedrooms also have a full kitchen.
The room set up is that 2 rooms have a King bed and 1 room has a Queen bed.
There is also a sofa bed in the living room, so overall they can sleep up to 8 people.
The base rate for this room is usually about $220 per night.
With taxes and fees, the total cost per night is about $270 per night.
I’d say for a room this size and the amount of people it can sleep that it’s a steal.
Most moderate resorts at Disney World cost this much per night for just a regular hotel room!

Using Timeshare Points For Your Stay
If you’re a timeshare owner, here’s how the points shake out.
For reference, we purchased our timeshare through Diamond Resorts a few years before they were bought out by Hilton Grand Vacations.
So our booking system is still the same as it’s always been.
Our resorts have just been re-branded under the Hilton name.
When I booked this stay it was just for 2 nights and I used 900 points for a Friday and Saturday stay.
Timeshares are notoriously over priced for points on Friday and Saturday nights, but that’s what factored into my choice to stay in just a studio room.
I also booked this room less than 60 days out, so the points were discounted.
I’ve seen weekend stays in a one bedroom cost like 1/3 of all my points for the whole year, which is crazy.
So 900 points translates to about $470 when I factor in how much I paid for the timeshare and maintenance fees over the years.
That comes out to $235 per night for the studio.
If I factor in all the freebies that have been given back to me by my timeshare, then the cost of this stay was actually $356 or $178 per night.
So in this case, paying cash and booking this resort like a regular guest would have been cheaper.
However, I didn’t have to pay anything out of pocket for my lodging for this 2 week trip, and timeshare points expire if they’re not used each year, so I’d still use my points again to stay here if I needed to use up points.
Resort Amenities
While Cypress Pointe has it’s own amenities, you are also able to take advantage of the amenities at Grande Villas across the street since both are Hilton owned.
They offer some transportation to Disney, but only a couple times a day and it’s not everywhere.
There are tennis courts, shuffleboard, a pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, barbecue grills, and a convenience store.
Cypress Pointe is also right outside of Disney Springs, so it’s close to a ton of entertainment, restaurants, and stores.
Overall Experience
Overall, the location was so convenient for me.
It’s only a 5-10 minute drive to Disney Springs where you can park for free and then take Disney transportation for free anywhere else you’d like to go.
My room was nice, but an elevator and full kitchen would’ve been nice too.
I always love a good soaking tub, especially in destinations where you tend to be more active on vacation and you can take an epsom salt bath at the end of the day.
I was also happy that they had enough availability for me to be able to check in early since I was coming over just across the street from Grande Villas.

Our Favorite Florida Resorts
I lived in Florida for 3 years for college and then for another semester for grad school.
I grew up vacationing at Disney World every Summer and stayed in Florida for a month to visit grandparents and other family.
Now almost half my family lives in Florida, so we are there all the time.
These are some of our favorite resorts we’ve stayed at in Florida!
Grande Villas Resort – Orlando
Grande Villas is just across the street from Cypress Pointe, so it is conveniently located to all things Disney!
There is an on-site pizza & deli restaurant, full bar, and Starbucks coffee too.
The tub is really the highlight of the room though.
Mystic Dunes Resort – Orlando
Mystic Dunes is one of the Diamond timeshares that really has a resort vibe, but the setting of being in Orlando, Florida probably plays a big part in that.
It’s just south of Disney World, with easy access to the parks.
The rooms are spacious and well kept, with just about every amenity when you stay in a one bedroom.
Grand Beach – Orlando
Grand Beach looks like the Grand Floridian, but it’s not.
It’s located about 10 minutes from Disney Springs and it’s a quiet resort.
They are super affordable and have 2 pools you can enjoy.
Aqua Sol – Orlando
Aqua Sol, formerly Liki Tiki Village, is the most resort style timeshare we’ve ever stayed in.
They have their own water park, mini golf course, and tons of other resort amenities.
Newly renovated and so cheap, it’s a favorite for Orlando visits.
Our Favorite Hilton Vacation Club Resorts In The US
We’ve been timeshare owners for several years now and we’re on a mission to stay at every property at least once.
Diamond Resorts was recently purchased by Hilton Grand Vacations, but the resorts will really only change in management name only – except for Marquis Villas Resort in Palm Springs, which has permanently closed.
These are our favorites so far.
Ka’anapali Beach Club – Maui
Ka’anapali Beach Club is located on Maui and is one of the most coveted of all of Diamond’s properties.
It’s in a great location, just down the road from Lahaina.
Plus, we enjoyed having the full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, and our beautiful ocean view.
Polo Towers – Las Vegas, Nevada
Polo Towers is right on the Las Vegas Strip, across from The Cosmopolitan.
We love the central location of this resort, as well as having a full kitchen because most Vegas hotels today have their fridge full of drinks that have insane mark ups, making them un-useable for yourself.
We’ve stayed in a variety of room types here over the years including a Two Bedroom, Studio Efficiency, and 1 Bedroom Accessible Room.
Historic Powhatan Resort – Williamsburg, Virginia
We absolutely loved staying at this resort in Williamsburg.
It was one of our more affordable timeshare visits and the unit had everything we needed.
We had just a One Bedroom, but it was 3 stories and set up like a townhome.
The first floor was the entrance, the second floor had a kitchen, dining room, full bathroom, bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and laundry.
Then the top floor was like a converted loft or attic with a tv, couch, and coffee table.
Varsity Clubs of America – Tucson, Arizona
This resort is the only place we stay in Tucson and we drive through here A LOT on our frequent road trips.
If you book with 30 days of your visit it’s pretty cheap.
We love the pool and hot tub here because it usually stays warm enough in the evenings to enjoy both.
It’s a quieter, no frills place and it’s right in the middle of town, centrally located to everything in Tucson.
The One Bedroom units are perfect with their full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, and dining table.
Varsity Clubs of America South Bend – Indiana
South Bend is famously known as the home of the University of Notre Dame.
Varsity Clubs of America is a great, inexpensive place to stay when you’re visiting the area.
It also makes for a great home base for day trips to places like Indiana Dunes National Park and Chicago.
Palm Canyon Resort – Palm Springs, California
Palm Canyon Resort is the premiere timeshare resort in Palm Springs.
We love staying here for fun stay-cations every so often because it’s always discounted within 30-60 days or less of travel.
They have a great pool with a hot tub and water slides built into the rocks.
Sunrise Ridge Resort – Pigeon Forge
Sunrise Ridge is a rustic resort near all of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg’s best attractions.
It’s tucked away outside of town with mountain views all around though.
The Suites at Fall Creek – Branson, Missouri
Last but not least, we love Diamond’s resort in Branson.
It’s set back along a creek, hence the name, so it’s a quite woodsy experience just outside of town.
It’s still close enough to everything too.
What we loved about this room was the counter space in the kitchen, the screened in porch, and the open layout of the room.
The One Bedroom layout here could easily be the equivalent of a real one bedroom apartment.
San Luis Bay Inn – Avila Beach, CA
San Luis Bay Inn is situated just above Avila Beach on a hill top along the central coast of California.
It’s in walking distance to this quiet beach town and it’s boardwalk of shops and restaurants.
Riviera Beach & Shores Resort – Capistrano Beach, CA
Riviera Beach & Shores Resort is an oceanfront property near the southern tip of Orange County, California.
It’s in a quiet area of the beach with hardly anybody else around.
We like coming down here for a few days at a time to enjoy the views and the peace and quiet.
Riviera Oaks Resort & Racquet Club – near San Diego
Riviera Oaks is a quiet resort in the town of Ramona, just outside of San Diego.
It’s a perfect getaway for wine tasting in Ramona or visiting the historic gold rush town of Julian.
Bell Rock Inn – Sedona, Arizona
Bell Rock Inn is a timeshare resort just South of the city center of Sedona.
It’s an older, smaller property, but it’s the most effective use of timeshare points.
Our stay was the equivalent of only about $65 a night!
The Wrap-Up: Cypress Pointe Review
Cypress Pointe is a great, affordable resort just outside of Disney Springs that is great for any Disney or Orlando vacation.
Just remember when booking your stay that there are no elevators and the studio is more like a honeymoon suite!
