Want to know what it’s like to stay at Harrah’s Resort Southern California? We’ve got you covered with a review of all of our favorite amenities and features!

When you think of a Harrah’s Resort, you probably think of popular gambling destinations like Las Vegas or Biloxi, Mississippi.

But did you know there is a Harrah’s resort in the middle of nowhere of Southern California?

We love staying here to get a resort vacation experience close to home.

The pool (with it’s lazy river) is phenomenal, the casino floor has a ton of gambling options, and the restaurants have a little bit of everything.

On top of all of that, the rooms are so nice!

Harrah’s Resort Southern California Review

Harrah’s Resort SoCal is located in Rincon, California.

If you’ve never heard of it, neither had we until we stayed here!

This resort is about 45 miles northeast of San Diego and directly east about 30 miles inland of towns like Oceanside and Carlsbad.

If you’re more familiar with the Temecula area, it’s about 20 miles south of there.

It’s in an area that’s great to just unplug, enjoy casinos, or spend a weekend golfing.

Room Types

The rooms at Harrah’s are separated into different towers.

We’ve personally stayed in King Rooms in the Dive Inn Tower and King Rooms in the Resort Tower.

Both links above link to our room tours of those rooms on Youtube!

The Dive Inn Tower had rooms overlooking the pool, while the resort tower overlooked the mountains.

Both rooms had a jacuzzi tub with a separate shower, which is always something I look for in a resort room.

The Dive Inn Tower is undergoing a major renovation currently and does not have a set re-opening date yet.

Room Pricing

If you are a Caesar’s Rewards member, you definitely want to book your stay through your account.

What’s nice about Caesar’s is that you can also combine your account with 1 other person traveling with you for an even better deal.

The only catch is that that person has to be at check-in with you so they know you’re not scamming the system.

JP and I did this every time and always had a free stay.

We honestly have never paid for a room at Harrah’s and we’re not even big spenders with Caesar’s.

I think we just paid the tax or resort fee of $25-$35 per night.

Unfortunately, wifi isn’t included, but we just used our hotspots if we had to use our laptops for work.

I think it’s something like $12 a day to use their wifi.

Resort Pool

The main attraction at this resort is the pool with a lazy river, multiple hot tubs, and a pool bar.

We would go out here for at least a couple hours every day that we stayed here.

Since this resort is also a casino, there are a lot of guests that aren’t actually staying overnight.

So to overcome that issue, there is a check-in counter each day you go out to the pool and they’ll confirm you’re an overnight guest, give you a wristband and towels, and then you’re free to come and go as you please that day.

The pool bar is centrally located under this tiki hut and comes complete with tv’s in view from every seat and a full bar menu.

My favorite spot at the pool though is the hidden hot tub.

There’s a main hot tub that is elevated, centrally located, and has a waterfall, but there is a second one that is behind some trees that can’t be seen unless you get close to it.

No one was ever in it when we visited, even when the main hot tub was full.

The fan favorite thing to do at the pool though is float along the lazy river, which comes complete with it’s own waterfall.

Restaurants at Harrah’s Resort Southern California

When we stayed here, we would come in the middle of the week for 1-2 nights at a time.

Since these rooms don’t have kitchens, we had to explore the resort’s restaurants while we were here.

They have a good mix of quick service, table service, and even a food truck.

1. Earl of Sandwich

The perfect lunch at Harrah’s is definitely Earl of Sandwich because it’s easy to take out to the pool with you.

My personal favorite sandwich here is the Hawaiian BBQ sandwich pictured above, while JP’s favorite sandwich is the Meatball Sub.

Though in the Winter I’d say the Meatball Sub definitely hits the spot more.

2. Robeks Juice

The perfect pairing with a sandwich from Earl of Sandwich is a juice from Robeks Juice.

My go-to drink here is the Hero’s Garden smoothie.

This one is made up of Fresh Spinach, Matcha Green Tea, Pineapple, Mango, Banana, Spirulina, Flax Seeds, and Apple Juice.

3. Smashburger

Another great, quick meal is a burger from Smashburger.

It’s located right next to Earl of Sandwich in the food court area on the casino floor.

Smashburger

The burgers here are smaller than what you may be used to if you’re used to chowing on Big Macs, but with the toppings and a side, it’s still large enough for a complete meal.

I would say they’re more similar in size to an In N Out burger.

Can you tell we loved enjoying lunch out at the pool? lol

4. ‘ritas Taco Truck

Right next to the doors that lead out to the pool is a permanent taco truck.

We enjoyed their burritos and taquitos.

5. The Cafe

Now for some table service dining!

The Cafe has exactly what you’d expect – American diner food.

The burger and fries are a great meal and they even put the ketchup on the bun as a smiley face!

6. KJ Chinese Restaurant

This was our favorite sit down meal at Harrah’s.

I think JP’s son was visiting this time, so that’s how we ended up with so many plates because we definitely couldn’t have eaten all of this food ourselves.

Our go-to’s when we go to Chinese restaurants is to start with some pot stickers (dumplings) and then share some noodles and fried rice.

Usually for noodles we go with beef and for fried rice we add pork.

We also will sometimes get an entree and I think this time it was some sort of spicy chicken.

7. Hell’s Kitchen

We haven’t been here yet since it hadn’t yet opened on our last visit, but how awesome that there’s a Hell’s Kitchen right here in Southern California!

I’ve always wanted to go whenever we’ve gone to Vegas and it hasn’t worked out, so I think I’ll have better odds coming here.

8. Casino Bars

On the casino floor there are a couple of smaller bars where you can get basic drinks.

JP’s go-to is an Old Fashioned and my go-to is a full bodied red wine.

They are very reasonably priced here as well.

I think my glass of wine was somewhere between $10-$15.

Our Favorite Places To Stay In Southern California

Here are some more resorts we love to stay at in California.

Remember, you don’t have to be a timeshare owner to stay at any of these that are timeshares.

You can book them directly or through your preferred 3rd party booking platform just like you would any other hotel.

Welk Resorts San Diego

This is an off the beaten path resort in a rural area outside of San Diego and is actually pretty close to Harrah’s.

We love taking weekend getaways here to enjoy the sunshine and solitude.

Welk Resorts San Diego

Riviera Oaks Resort & Racquet Club (near San Diego)

Riviera Oaks is a quiet resort in the town of Ramona, just outside of San Diego.

It’s a perfect getaway for wine tasting in Ramona or visiting the historic gold rush town of Julian.

Riviera Beach & Shores Resort (Capistrano Beach, CA)

Riviera Beach & Shores Resort is an oceanfront property near the southern tip of Orange County, California.

It’s in a quiet area of the beach with hardly anybody else around.

We like coming down here for a few days at a time to enjoy the views and the peace and quiet.

Palm Canyon Resort (Palm Springs, California)

Palm Canyon Resort is our favorite timeshare resort in Palm Springs.

We love staying here for fun stay-cations every so often because it’s always discounted within 30-60 days or less of travel.

They have a great pool with a hot tub and water slides built into the rocks.

San Luis Bay Inn (Avila Beach, CA)

San Luis Bay Inn is situated just above Avila Beach on a hill top along the central coast of California.

It’s in walking distance to this quiet beach town and it’s boardwalk of shops and restaurants.

Our Favorite Harrah’s Resorts In The US

There are a handful of Harrah’s resorts, hotels, and casinos around the US and we’ve stayed at and visited several so far.

Maybe one day we’ll go to all of them!

Below are our favorite Harrah’s resorts that we recommend most.

Harrah’s Gulf Coast Hotel & Casino

Harrah’s Gulf Coast Hotel & Casino is in Biloxi, Mississippi, one of the top cities in the US for casinos and gambling.

We’ve stayed at this one a couple of times when we road trip to Florida and back.

The rooms here are really nice with fixtures in the rooms to make them look even more luxurious.

Biloxi, Mississippi

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino

Harrah’s Ak-Chin is just outside of Phoenix, Arizona.

It’s a little bit off the beaten path, just like the one here in Southern California, but everything you’d need for a nice weekend getaway is all here at this resort.

Conclusion: Harrah’s Resort Southern California Review

There’s more to this resort like additional restaurants, the casino, and special events, but we haven’t personally done those things, so I can’t speak to what they’re like.

But even with all the things we did mention, Harrah’s Resort Southern California is a fantastic getaway to just unplug or enjoy the pool for a few days.
