Marquis Villas Resort One Bedroom Review

Marquis Villas Resort is a Diamond Resort timeshare property located right in the center of Palm Springs, California!

Diamond Resorts has recently been purchased by Hilton Grand Vacations, but as of right now, just the management and branding has changed.

The resorts themselves are not changing much until the next refurbishment is scheduled.

We enjoyed a stay recently on our way out to Tucson.

One Bedroom Units At Marquis Villas Resort

So on the first look of the room, it seems pretty nice.

It’s nicely decorated and seems to have some upscale amenities.

But upon a closer look, it’s actually quite an interesting room.

The Kitchen

Notice the refrigerator and the stove when you watch the video.

I am certain that they are older than I am!

However, they were in perfect condition and if it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right?

The Living Room

Let’s move onto the living room.

Notice the giant fireplace right in the center?

But where’s the tv?

It’s tucked into a little corner above a little wet bar.

Why?

Who knows!

We were just there to work for one day before heading out to Tucson, so it didn’t affect us at all, but if we were staying for a more leisurely vacation it wouldn’t have been ideal.

The Bathroom

Last but not least, the bathroom.

Did you notice what’s odd about the bathroom?

First you have the giant open part of the bathroom.

There’s a walk-in linen closet, with a toilet right next to it just out in the open.

Then, on the far end of the bathroom is another attached bathroom with ANOTHER toilet.

And that is where the shower is.

Have you ever seen a bathroom attached to another bathroom in a hotel?

Because this was a first for me.

We have actually come across a similar layout on our travels recently though.

We’ve been staying in a lot of timeshare type units that are one bedroom and for some reason a lot of them tend to have either 1 1/2 bathrooms or 2 full bathrooms.

Usually one is part of the bedroom and the other is off the living room area.

I don’t recall any other time in my life where I’ve seen this kind of layout, so we must have just coincidentally found them all this past year!

More Of Our Favorite Palm Springs Resorts

Here are our favorite places to stay when we visit Palm Springs.

Palm Canyon Resort – Palm Springs, California

Palm Canyon Resort is the premiere timeshare resort in Palm Springs.

We love staying here for fun stay-cations every so often because it’s always discounted within 30-60 days or less of travel.

They have a great pool with a hot tub and water slides built into the rocks.

WorldMark Indio

WorldMark Indio is in a suburb on the outskirts of the Greater Palm Springs area.

We love this resort for it’s pool with a lazy river and how spacious the rooms are.

It’s also way more affordable than the simple hotel rooms in Palm Springs, while also having more amenities like a full kitchen.

You can see a full walk-through of the one bedroom on our YouTube Channel and the 4 bedroom Grand Villa walk-through.

Our Favorite Resorts In California

Here are some of our favorite timeshares and resorts in California!

Riviera Oaks Racquet Club – Ramona, California

Ramona is a small, rural town a little northeast of San Diego, California.

They have a budding wine region that is competitive with California’s more established wine regions.

San Luis Bay Inn – Avila Beach, California

Avila Beach is a small, quiet beach town north of Santa Barbara near San Luis Obispo.

The resort overlooks the beach and is in walking distance to the beach and promenade.

Avila Beach, California

Riviera Beach & Shores Resort – Capistrano Beach, CA

Riviera Beach & Shores Resort is an oceanfront property near the southern tip of Orange County, California.

It’s in a quiet area of the beach with hardly anybody else around.

We like coming down here for a few days at a time to enjoy the views and the peace and quiet.

WorldMark Angels Camp (Northern California)

Angels Camp is in Northern California’s gold country near Yosemite National Park.

The WorldMark resort here is like a rustic mountain lodge, complete with cozy fireplaces in each unit.

We love staying up there to unplug and enjoy nature.

You can check out a full walk-through of their one bedroom rooms on our YouTube channel.

Big Trees State Park

WorldMark Big Bear

WorldMark Big Bear is located in the mountains just outside of LA and Orange County.

It’s a great mountain getaway whether you want to enjoy the lake in the Summer or skiing in the Winter.

Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disneyland Hotel

The DVC Villas at Disneyland Hotel are brand new and beautiful!

They have their own private pool and hot tub deck separate from the main resort pool (which you can also use too).

Our room was themed to Princess and the Frog.

Stallion Springs Resort (Tehachapi, CA)

This is a hidden gem that we wish we could’ve stayed in longer.

This area has so many more things to do than you’d think and we absolutely loved it.

Welk Resorts San Diego

This resort is actually near the mountains outside of San Diego in Escondido.

It’s a quiet area, so it’s perfect for a weekend getaway where you just stay at the resort the whole time.

This is the iconic hotel in Beverly Hills from Pretty Woman.

It’s one of those places where you should splurge at least once to stay here.

It’s centrally located to everything and much more affordable than the bigger resorts in the area.

Tent Camping at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area

Cachuma Lake is just outside of Santa Barbara and Solvang.

It’s probably the cheapest way to stay in this area.

This campground has all the amenities you need and they are right on the lake.

More Great Hilton Vacation Club Timeshare Properties To Visit

Diamond Resorts has properties all over the US in a mix of beach, city, and rural destinations.

Diamond Resorts was recently purchased by Hilton Grand Vacations, but all that has truly changed at these properties so far is the management and the branding.

The rooms and the layouts and the amenities are all still the same until refurbishments are scheduled.

Polo Towers – Las Vegas, Nevada

Polo Towers is right on the Las Vegas Strip, across from The Cosmopolitan.

We love the central location of this resort, as well as having a full kitchen because most Vegas hotels today have their fridge full of drinks that have insane mark ups, making them un-useable for yourself.

We’ve stayed in a variety of room types here over the years including a Two BedroomStudio Efficiency, and 1 Bedroom Accessible Room.

Ka’anapali Beach Club – Maui, Hawaii

The photo below is the view from our room at Ka’anapali Beach Club.

We were able to whale watch with binoculars right from our balcony.

This is one of Diamond Resorts most highly rated properties.

Historic Powhatan Resort – Williamsburg, Virginia

The rooms here are like townhouses and the property fits right in with the rest of Williamsburg.

It’s the perfect place to stay to visit Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, and Busch Gardens.

The Suites At Fall Creek – Branson, Missouri

Our room here was way in the back along the creek with a screened in porch and all the amenities of a house.

It’s perfectly situated amongst all of Branson’s world class entertainment and attractions.

Varsity Clubs Of America – Tucson, Arizona

We absolutely love staying at this resort every time we visit Tucson.

It’s quiet, right in the middle of town, and the pool and hot tub are perfect for late night swims due to the warm weather.

 Mystic Dunes Resort – Orlando

Mystic Dunes is one of the Diamond timeshares that really has a resort vibe, but the setting of being in Orlando, Florida probably plays a big part in that.

It’s just south of Disney World, with easy access to the parks.

The rooms are spacious and well kept, with just about every amenity when you stay in a one bedroom.

Mystic Dunes Resort in Orlando

Grande Villas Resort – Orlando, Florida

Grande Villas is just outside of Disney Springs, so it is conveniently located to all things Disney!

There is an on-site pizza & deli restaurant, full bar, and Starbucks coffee too.

The tub is really the highlight of the room though.

Cypress Pointe – Orlando

Cypress Pointe is another Hilton resort and it is actually right across the street from the Grande Villas resort!

The studio rooms here are unique in that they are more like a honeymoon suite and they are so affordable considering they are right outside of Disney Springs.

Bell Rock Inn – Sedona

Bell Rock Inn is a timeshare resort just South of the city center of Sedona.

It’s an older, smaller property, but it’s the most effective use of timeshare points.

Our stay was the equivalent of only about $65 a night!

Conclusion: Marquis Villas Resort One Bedroom Review

I honestly love when hotels are quirky and have unique layouts or themes or amenities.

So I actually really enjoyed all the randomness of this room.

I would 100% go back to this resort any time.

Did you see the view from the balcony?

And the size of the balcony?

If it wasn’t 110+ degrees while we were there we would have spent a little more time enjoying it.

It is probably the largest one bedroom hotel room I’ve ever stayed in.

I’m pretty sure it’s larger than my current apartment and it has 2 bedrooms. lol

It’s a timeshare property, but you usually don’t have to be an owner to stay at these places.

Since this resort is now permanently closed, you can also check out the Worldmark Indio resort instead.
