Want to know what it’s like to stay at Varsity Clubs of America Tucson? We’ve got you covered with everything we experienced during our multiple stays here!

A couple years ago for my birthday we decided to spend a week in Tucson, so we booked our stay at Varsity Clubs of America.

Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of staying at this resort least 3 different times, for varying lengths of time.

This is one of our favorite timeshare stays because of it’s location, reasonable pricing, and it stays warm enough at night for late night swims.

You can see a full walk-through of a standard one bedroom at this resort in this video on our YouTube Channel.

The best part about it is that you don’t have to be a timeshare owner to stay here!

You can book directly or through your preferred 3rd party booking system just like you would any other hotel.

Varsity Clubs of America Tucson Review

On our most recent visit, we got a video of the one bedroom unit again just to compare the difference in rooms.

The one bedrooms here are virtually identical, except for some being mirror images of each other.

You can see a full walk-through of the alternate room layout in this video on our YouTube channel.

We specifically wanted to use a timeshare unit because there is always a kitchen.

We needed a place to be able to eat breakfast and lunch since JP was working and we couldn’t go out.

For day time meals we brought some of our own food, but mostly ended up just eating leftovers from dinners the night before.

Another reason we wanted to stay at one of our timeshare properties is because we were able to get a 1 bedroom unit instead of a studio.

With JP needing to be on calls and me needing to work on this blog, we really prefer separate working spaces.

So this worked out great for us.

Varsity Clubs of America is the perfect place to stay on a work-cation.

Varsity Clubs of America Tucson Highlights

My favorite thing about this hotel though was the pool.

We live in Southern California, so it’s very rare that we can use our pool in the evenings because it’s too cold.

In Tucson though, it was still in the 90s after the sun set.

So it was PERFECT for swimming.

We went out to the pool every single night for at least an hour.

Most of the time we would swim around and just hang out.

Then if we started to get cold we’d hang out in the hot tub for about 20 minutes.

It became our nightly routine after going out for dinner each night!

The bathtub in the room is also a pretty good size for soaking.

So one night when there was lightning in the area I just took an epsom salt bath instead.

This hotel is also very centrally located in the Tucson area.

We had scoped out the restaurants we wanted to try in advance and conveniently, all of them were within a 15 minute or less drive from our hotel.

This hotel is also centrally located to the highways for our sightseeing days.

Booking Varsity Clubs Of America Tucson

As members of the Diamond Resorts timeshare, we were able to use our points at a great exchange rate.

We also did not pay any additional fees like parking or resort fees.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to be a timeshare owner to stay at this resort.

This is just a scare tactic sales teams use to try to get you to buy.

Anybody that wants to can book a stay at Varsity Clubs of America Tucson through just about any booking platform (as long as there is an adult in the group).

Where To Eat When You Visit Tucson

Tucson is a designated UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

The soil of Tucson has been used to grow food for over 10,000 years continuously.

There are different designations within UNESCO that allow specific restaurants to be recognized.

We decided to try a variety of them because local cuisine is a huge part of travel.

Here are the best restaurants in Tucson for foodies.

Fun Things To Do While You’re In Tucson

Tucson is an amazing destination for tourists.

There are so many historical sites nearby, natural wonders, and a booming wine country!

Tombstone Day Trip Itinerary

Tombstone is the town too tough to die.

You may know it from the mega blockbuster back in the early 90s.

There are so many cool things to do here from dining in a local saloon, antique shopping, wine tasting, re-enactments of the OK Corral, and tons more.

We loved it so much we actually went twice in the same trip!

Elgin and Sonoita Wine Tasting Guide

Just south of Tucson is the Elgin and Sonoita wine tasting region.

We’ve visited wine regions all over the US and let me tell you, we like it better than Napa!

Our favorite wine we’ve ever tried was here – a red wine infused with habanero peppers.

I don’t do anything spicy at all, but this wine gets the flavor of the peppers without the burn of the spice.

There were so many places we went in Tucson that we decided to put them all together in one post.

Check out historic missions, underground caverns, and popular National Park Service sites.

More Fun Places To Stay In Arizona

We love to take weekend getaways all throughout Arizona.

These are some of our favorite places to stay outside of Phoenix.

Kingman KOA

We stayed in a camping cabin here when we were moving from California to Ohio and loved it.

It’s perfect for road tripping across the country or along Route 66.

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Resort & Casino

Harrah’s Ak-Chin is just outside of Phoenix and they are actually part of Caesar’s Rewards, so it’s easy to earn free nights here.

Legacy Golf Resort

Legacy Golf Resort is part of Shell Vacations Club and Club Wyndham.

We stayed in a studio room, which is much larger than most timeshare studios we’ve ever stayed in.

Bell Rock Inn – Sedona, Arizona

Bell Rock Inn is a timeshare resort just South of the city center of Sedona.

It’s an older, smaller property, but it’s the most effective use of timeshare points.

Our stay was the equivalent of only about $65 a night!

Our Favorite Diamond Timeshare Resorts (Now Owned By Hilton Grand Vacations)

We’ve been timeshare owners for several years now and we’re on a mission to stay at every property at least once.

Since we purchased our timeshare through Diamond Resorts, they have been purchased by Hilton Grand Vacations.

For the most part all the resorts are staying the same, they’ll just be under new management – except for Marquis Villas Resort in Palm Springs, which permanently closed.

These are our favorites so far.

Ka’anapali Beach Club – Maui

Ka’anapali Beach Club is located on Maui and is one of the most coveted of all of Diamond’s properties.

It’s in a great location, just down the road from Lahaina.

Plus, we enjoyed having the full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, and our beautiful ocean view.

Polo Towers – Las Vegas

Polo Towers is right on the Las Vegas Strip, across from The Cosmopolitan.

We love the central location of this resort, as well as having a full kitchen because most Vegas hotels today have their fridge full of drinks that have insane mark ups, making them un-useable for yourself.

We’ve stayed in a variety of room types here over the years including a Two BedroomStudio Efficiency, and 1 Bedroom Accessible Room.

Historic Powhatan Resort – Williamsburg, Virginia

We absolutely loved staying at this resort in Williamsburg.

It was one of our more affordable timeshare visits and the unit had everything we needed.

We had just a One Bedroom, but it was 3 stories and set up like a townhome.

The first floor was the entrance, the second floor had a kitchen, dining room, full bathroom, bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and laundry.

Then the top floor was like a converted loft or attic with a tv, couch, and coffee table.

Grande Villas Resort – Orlando, Florida

Grande Villas is just outside of Disney Springs, so it is conveniently located to all things Disney!

There is an on-site pizza & deli restaurant, full bar, and Starbucks coffee too.

The tub is really the highlight of the room though.

Cypress Pointe – Orlando

Cypress Pointe is another Hilton resort and it is actually right across the street from the Grande Villas resort!

The studio rooms here are unique in that they are more like a honeymoon suite and they are so affordable considering they are right outside of Disney Springs.

Riviera Beach & Shores Resort – Capistrano Beach, CA

Riviera Beach & Shores Resort is an oceanfront property near the southern tip of Orange County, California.

It’s in a quiet area of the beach with hardly anybody else around.

We like coming down here for a few days at a time to enjoy the views and the peace and quiet.

Palm Canyon Resort – Palm Springs, California

Palm Canyon Resort is the premiere timeshare resort in Palm Springs.

We love staying here for fun stay-cations every so often because it’s always discounted within 30-60 days or less of travel.

They have a great pool with a hot tub and water slides built into the rocks.

The Suites at Fall Creek – Branson, Missouri

We love Diamond’s resort in Branson.

It’s set back along a creek, hence the name, so it’s a quite woodsy experience just outside of town.

It’s still close enough to everything too.

What we loved about this room was the counter space in the kitchen, the screened in porch, and the open layout of the room.

The One Bedroom layout here could easily be the equivalent of a real one bedroom apartment.

Mystic Dunes Resort – Orlando, Florida

Mystic Dunes is one of the Diamond timeshares that really has a resort vibe, but the setting of being in Orlando, Florida probably plays a big part in that.

It’s just south of Disney World, with easy access to the parks.

The rooms are spacious and well kept, with just about every amenity when you stay in a one bedroom.

Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club

San Luis Bay Inn – Avila Beach, CA

San Luis Bay Inn is situated just above Avila Beach on a hill top along the central coast of California.

It’s in walking distance to this quiet beach town and it’s boardwalk of shops and restaurants.

Riviera Oaks Resort & Racquet Club – near San Diego

Riviera Oaks is a quiet resort in the town of Ramona, just outside of San Diego.

It’s a perfect getaway for wine tasting in Ramona or visiting the historic gold rush town of Julian.

Conclusion: Varsity Clubs of America Tucson Review

Varsity Club of America is a great resort right in the middle of Tucson.

It’s a quiet property, with spacious one bedroom units, and a great pool.

Whenever we go to Tucson, it’s the first place we look at to stay!
